Gateway to the Caribbean
Modern infrastructure, strategic location, and exceptional service. Dominica International Airport is your partner in connecting the Nature Isle to the world.
Your Strategic Partner in Caribbean Aviation
Dominica International Airport is an international airport currently under construction in Wesley, Dominica. Set to replace the existing Douglas-Charles Airport, this transformative project will establish Dominica as a premier destination in the Eastern Caribbean with direct connectivity to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
With a planned 3,000-meter runway capable of accommodating wide-body aircraft, state-of-the-art terminal facilities, and modern infrastructure, the new airport is expected to be completed in 2027. The project is overseen by the Dominica International Airport Development Company (IADC), committed to building a facility that honors the island's natural beauty while supporting economic growth and tourism.

About the Project

What are the initial steps in constructing Dominica's new airport?
Mobilization began in June 2023 with the arrival of heavy machinery, followed by setting up facilities like a batch plant for concrete mixing and a fuel farm to keep equipment running. Site clearing has started, and significant earthworks are planned to level the hilly terrain, making this one of the largest earthmoving projects in the Eastern Caribbean.
Who is leading the airport development?
Dominica's government has partnered with Montreal Management Consultants Development Ltd (MMC), an experienced developer, to bring the project to life. MMC is managing the financing and construction in collaboration with international contractors like China Railway No. 5 (CR5). The project team is committed to creating a high-quality airport that meets global standards.

How is the Dominica International Airport project financed?
The project is financed through Dominica's Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program in partnership with Montreal Management Consultants Development Ltd (MMC), the airport's developer. MMC, not the government, is responsible for raising funds and managing contracts, ensuring no direct financial burden on Dominica's treasury. This approach allows current and future generations to benefit from the project without the weight of national debt.
